GDAL supports virtual file systems out of the box: https://gdal.org/user/virtual_file_systems.html This is straightforward to implement in GeoServer by leveraging the existing VRT reader. This would effectively add support for Openstack Swift, Azure and other cloud-services for hosting geospatial data. |
