Deleting a style, through the GUI or REST, while running the Hazelcast clustering module with more than one GeoServer node will rename the styles directory and make all of the styles inaccessible. Fixing a GeoServer in this state requires access to directly modify GeoServer’s data directory. While this behavior is a regression in GeoServer 2.21.0, the bug has actually existed for a long time but was hidden behind a relatively harmless NullPointerException that was fixed in 2.21.0. It is possible for an administrator to trigger this behavior through specific REST commands in GeoServer 2.21.0 as well as older versions. |
