Previous to 2.22.x, the representation of [http://(servername)/geoserver/rest/security/roles/user/(username).xml](http://(servername)/geoserver/rest/security/roles/user/(username).xml) had “roles” as the root element, but now the root is JaxbRoleList instead, with roles nested inside of it.

The issue has the same origin as https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOS-10760 , the fix made there should be generalized to the core rest API
