The documentation (http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/production/container.html):
For the section: “-Xmx256M -Xms48m”
The bit to the right says “xmx” twice, but not “xms”. I suspect the second “xmx” should be an “xms”.
Also, it assumes the user knows what a “heap” is.
Also, it could be made clearer that the “Xms” is the initialisation memory and is a subset of the Xms. At least, that’s what I think its trying to say (I don’t pretend to understand this stuff  ).
