Creating an ECW store doesn’t work.

I have a new installation of GeoServer 2.5 (from OpenGeo) and have installed the GDAL/OGR extensions, plus installed ECW support for GDAL following these instructions: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/ECW#Building_libecwj

If I run gdalinfo and point at the ECW I get good information. If I try to create a store with GeoServer, it complains with ‘Could not list layers for this store, an error occurred retrieving them: Incorrect input type!’
