I don’t know whether or not it is just the setup here but we find our GeoServer slows down when a user requests the whole catalogue as a getCapabilities request. To this end, I’m looking to disable global services and I have been setting up the required workspaces to achieve this. I expect many people would do the same as I want to do and put the base mapping layers in a seperate workspace. This means you can’t disable global services as this would make it impossible to to a getMap statement which has a layer and base map as you can’t issue the request to the global service and you can mix workspaces if you request from a single workspace. Would it be possible to make it possible to disable global services but still issue getMap requests directly to the server as long as all the layers in the request have a workspace (i.e. layers=workspace1:layer,workspace2:layer)? I don’t know how much work it would be or whether there is a work around for this but would be keen to know what others do and whether or not disabling global services is something others do or not. Best Regards, |
