Based on recent events at sourceforge, it may be prudent to consider alternative hosting for binaries that are currently on SF.
I think some valid concerns are:

  • Bundled malware becoming an issue in the Windows installer
  • SF reputation affecting agency/company proxy block lists
  • SF reputation affecting agency/company approved software lists
  • SF download page ads. I know of at least one systems engineer that was unable to download the GeoServer Windows Installer, because SF had “Download” ad buttons that misled him.
