The coveragestore DELETE endpoint has a purge parameter, which is used to delete the underlying files in addition to the store.

This may be useful to add to the datastores DELETE endpoint as well, either to delete the underlying file (in the case of a shapefile) or table (in the case of a database).
In the case of databases, this parameter may also be useful for featuretype DELETE, to delete individual tables when a featuretype is removed.
