Two issues:

  • The documentation wrongly reports that they can be used as external graphic, but they are marks, https://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/styling/sld/extensions/pointsymbols.html#bulk-wkt-shapes
  • The code expects a search root to be set via static method call, but it’s not really setup and as a result goes NPE. A static root is also unadvisable, would not work properly with workspaced styles anyways. Best to make it work with absolute paths first, and possibly allow to use a resource loader to locate the library file.
