While this is by itself not a bug (because server implementations can decide which end points they offer), Geoserver does claim to support the POST equivalent for WMS GetMap requests at https://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/services/wms/reference.html. Hence, it should ideally be reflected in the XML capabilities. This is very convenient for WMS clients to automatically discover which requests method they can use for each request. Note: I do believe https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOS-9823 should first be addressed, since it prevents Geoserver from accepting WMS GetMap XML POST requests that are formatted according to OGC’s WMS GetMap XML Schemas. Perhaps this is the reason why it is not advertised in the capabilities? |
