this is a repost of this message since I'm getting succesive rejections from
mail.sourceforge.net saying my SMTP server is in the Spamcop RBL.

Hi again,

yes, JMX is smelling worst every day.
Anyway, I'm glad the topic in question deserved such a great interest from
every party involved in the life of geoserver. Now I can forsee a greater
possibility of success. A couple years ago I had the vision (not that it is
that original) of services configuration as a service itself, and all this
discussion is for sure going to provide, at least, enough concensus as to get
a nice project proposal and interested parties as to push it to the level of
finding some sponsorship to actually being able of implement.
Inevitably, we hackers started to throw up ideas on technologies, but there
is starting to be enough material as to lay down a good bunch of
requirements to further guide the decisions we're so uncertain of right now.

I'm reaching a deadline now, but plan to be able of working on this stuff
over the weekend and then come back with a more organized set of
requirements from which we can delimit scope. How knows, may be we can get
an OGC spec out of this initiative.

But yeah, after almost burning my head with such an amount of technologies
and tools I'm under the impression that we definitely need to take it easy
and plan for the long term, specially after a nice talking with Rob A who,
as ever, seems to be a wider and longer term vision of what needs to be
done. --
