[Geoserver-devel] Let's have a "done with Geoserver" page

Hi guys,
what about setting up a "done with Geoserver" page, with a big
link (and eventually, a small excerpt) sitting prominently in
the main page?

We know there are quite some real world experiences out there,
from people using Geoserver to add layers on top of Google
maps to full fledged WMS sites, and people serving shapefiles,
and so on.

That would be quite intersting for the casual user that wants
to get an idea of what can be done with Geoserver, and
will also give some visibility to our best users.

Since we have the Wiki pretty much locked down, we can
provide people a link, form, or whatever other form to
give us a link an a story to add in that page. That may
also help us out in organizing the page a bit, with subsections.
Think, "WMS site", "Google maps integration",
"WFS data serving", "Google Earth integration", and so on.

Cheers
Andrea

Hey Andrea,
this is really a good idea … I first would like to insert a lot of awesome application made on top of GeoServer.

That is the purpose of the Gallery
(http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOS/Gallery) but it doesn't seem
like we are getting a lot of mileage out of it :frowning:

I've been thinking about this too, and this is more in line with a 'live' gallery, links to real applications. Which I suppose we could also morph the gallery in to, or just make the still shots a sub-section of the overall gallery.

Well, they issue is that the link is so small on the home page
that I never noticed we had one!

All it takes then is a little reorganization, and a bigger section
in the home page (imho).

Cheers

I agree. Thanks for pushing this Andrea.
