EPL is taking some steps to get along better with GPL. For now we have a
clause in our License for eclipse libraries.

Oshi has a nice API and allow us to retrieve information about the
system and is hardware [2]. This library uses JNA and no extra DLL needs
to be installed. Major operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and
Unix based systems) are supported.
Of all the existing alternatives for doing this in Java oshi seems to be
the better option, oshi GitHub page provides a good summary about those
alternatives [3]. Sigar [4] seems to be dead (the main page doesn't
responds anymore) and it requires a DLL to be installed. JHardware [5]
only has a single contributor, is mor elimited than oshi and Mac OS X
seems to not be supported. Java OperatingSystemMXBean [6] doesn't
provide much information and will probably not play well with non oracle
JVM, although OpenJDK seems to support it.
