[Geoserver-devel] Links between JIRA issues & Github commits

Pretty please can someone with appropriate powers set this up, so we can see the commits relevant to a ticket from within JIRA without having to search github’s history across branches?

Thanks!

Jira is being migrated to the open source cloud hosting managed by
Atlassian (still in progress):
https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/secure/Dashboard.jspa

In the old Jira that was simply not possible (as far as I know)... for the
new one hum... it seems that this would
be a manual process that can be done either on a per team basis or on a per
user basis, but
it requires admin rights to do that for each and every user... sounds like
quite a bit of extra work that
would have to be maintained over time?

Cheers
Andrea

No, it just needs *one* github user (I'd suggest using an
"osgeo-robot"/"geoserver-robot" or similar github account, maybe there is
already one for Jenkins?) to set it up, who has appropriate rights on
whichever repositories need linking (eg. Geoserver + Geotools).

After that it pulls the commit logs using that user's credentials and
creates the links for everyone.

Oh ok, that was not clear to me... wondering what the group registration is
for then?
We do not have a bot user, good idea to create one though, people come and
go... we'll
need to give access to such account to the whole PSC I guess.

Hum hum.... easier instructions, yet look different than the Jira ones (I
don't see an explicit oauth
step)

Hi,
I’ve followed the instructions and linked GeoServer Jira with Github.
Also enabled smart commits, in case someone wants to try or use them: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/FISHEYE/Using+smart+commits
