[Geoserver-devel] [Live-demo] LiveDVD Feature Freeze in 2 days

Hi Cameron,

I had passed on this info a couple weeks ago; and we were unable to
find a volunteer to update the script. If you are willing to give it a
go the latest geoserver 2.0.1 that mark released can be downloaded
from here:

I am not suer what the script requires - the normal archive is here:

The specific war is here (if geoserver was sharing a tomcat with
others on the live dvd):

Thanks for setting up the initial script Andrea; I think the only
change is that GeoServer 2.0.1 no longer requires a JDK and can now
use a JRE?

Mike you have done release stuff in the past - are you a good point of
contact for the Live DVD team? I know we have not done any OSGeo
incubation process yet but one of the steps will be finding a point of
contact for OSGeo activities such as publicity and this live DVD
thing.

As per our schedule [1], LiveDVD feature freeze is on 7 February (in two
days).

What that means is that we don't want to change the version of software on
the liveDVD after that data. (We can fix bugs, and update documentation,
etc)

According to our package status page [2], we in reasonable shape, but do
have a couple of holes in the "version 3.0" column. Could everyone please
update the status of the packages that you are responsible for.

Key areas of concern:

* Geoserver doesn't have someone responsible for it, now that Andrea has
retired. And it has had a major upgrade to 2.0 stable which should be on the
live dvd.

* GeoNetwork: I haven't heard from anyone on this project. It has moved up
to 2.4.2 (we have 2.4.1).

* UDig: What version will be on the liveDVD?

* Hamish: A number of packages that you have been working on don't have a
version number in the column.

* Mapserer: We don't have a point of contact

* Postgis: We don't have a point of contact

* What version of GDAL are we using?

Thanks Jody,
Sounds like the move to geoserver 2.0.1 is as simple as pointing to a new war to download?
I can do that, but hope that I can get someone to verify it works over the next few weeks. (I expect to have a vitual machine web page that people can use to test the image within the next few days, so this should be quite straight forward).

Mike,
At this point, I'm primarily after a single point of contact person who can coordinate activities from the Geoserver community. It should be a low commitment from someone already in the community, but would be quite a bit harder for us packagers.
Mike, is this something that you could volunteer for?

We should check what the script uses now ... and use the same thing.

I can do that, but hope that I can get someone to verify it works over the

Can you cut me an image to test against? I know what to poke to verify
it works..

We may sort that out as GeoServer moves through the incubation
process. Which reminds
me is there any identification of projects in OSGeo or in Incubation
no the live dvd? It would
be nice to include the appropriate logo on their description page...
