Seems a regression was introduced into 1.6.5. The map preview getfeatureinfo is actually making a getmap request... so what shows up in the info panel is raw image out... aka a mess.
The fix is trivial, one line in the openlayers template. However, what is the status of 1.6.5? I don't think an official announcement has been made yet correct? It is also not closed in jira yet either.
