[Geoserver-devel] Mass source code reformat: when?

Hi,
the proposal is not getting any more votes, so I guess it can be considered approved.

So now it’s time to find out when the reformat can be performed. Ideally:

  • All the pull requests are merged or closed
  • There is no one with large amount of changes sitting on their disk
  • Those that need to start large changes, are probably best to wait until the reformat is done
    Of course we cannot get to “ideal”, but should try to reduce the pain and stress of this as much as we can.
    Given the new conventions are pretty close to the old ones, I was thinking of reformatting one project
    per weekend, starting with the project that has less “blockers” in the air.

Could you please share whatever work that might be affected by the reformat, so that we can
organize on dates and minimize adverse impact?

Hello,

(All of the following can be assumed to cover Boundless Suite in general):

GeoTools:
PR#1865 is the only active PR that I am tracking, it is about ready to merge, I just need to do a final review. No other GeoTools work in the near future (i.e. next month or so).
GeoWebCache:
Nothing that I am tracking
GeoServer:
PR#2791 just approved, and should be merged today or tomorrow.
A couple of backports for backup-restore are also in progress, but should be merged today.
Nothing major is planned for the the immediate future (i.e. next month or so).

So everything I am tracking should be dealt with by end of week, with nothing new planned for next month. Further out than that I can not give a confident estimate of when major things might be coming in.

One upcoming inconvenience I can see is that the monthly bug stomp is planned for this Friday, which tends to generate some number of PRs.

The reason is code-sprint tomorrow is likely to generate additional pull requests.

Ok, in that case I’ll try to do the mass reformat of GeoTools during this weekend. That’s as much as I can do, the GeoServer one will likely
follow the weekend after, and GeoWebCache… not sure, the PR situation is a bit grim there.
