[Geoserver-devel] Meeting follow up - Website Gallery

I had one topic I forgot to mention in yesterdays meeting. I took a run at cleaning up the new website (see pervious email). One of the open tasks is to create a Gallery…

I have had some prior experience running a gallery and it was too much manual work. Our previous GeoServer gallery ended up being a mess of broken links and forgotten projects.

Here is my thought on how we can up a gallery layout for the website

  • getcapabilities: link so we can show the service as an OL3 client (for hi dpi demos)

  • layers: layers for the OL3 client

  • title

  • organisation

  • logo: organisation or project logo

  • quote: quote about why geoserver was chosen

  • paragraph description

  • about: Link “for more information” often to a project description “about page”

  • screensnap: One screen snap showing resulting application or website

We could then accept additional gallery pages via pull request, and turn off any that no longer display an active GeoServer.

Stretch goal: cycle through gallery entries on home page preview?

I guess that text + static image is fine, and that part, could stay for a
long time.
The links are also good, but we could somehow disable if they stop
working... wondering how though?

Stretch goal: cycle through gallery entries on home page preview?

Would be nice
