[Geoserver-devel] Merge GIS data from PostGIS and Stat data from Oracle into a featurefile used by Geoserver

Good afternoon

Sorry for this long title but i wanted to well define my problem.

We are currently thinking about implementing a new system to manage our GIS
data stored in PostGIS. We made some tests using PostGIS/Geoserver/OL and it
works beautifully.
We would like now to connect these GIS data to statistical data coming from
our global database (Oracle 10g).
The statistical data can be connected to the geographical layer through
common identifier (eg.:statistical value with the key X coming from Oracle
can be connected to the polygon X of the GIS layer coming from PostGIS
through this X identifier)
My question is: What would be the solution to merge technically these 2
sets of data (geographical and statistical) coming from 2 different
databases in order to be used by Geoserver?
Do i need a new datastore in Geoserver? Add a new application above
Geoserver which will make the merge? What should be the environment?

Thanks for giving me some ideas or technical solutions you could have.
