GeoServer definitely plans to handle several datasources - I'm not sure if
I can get oracle spatial in to the 0.97 release, but it will definitely be
in by 0.98. MySQL needs to be redone in geotools to take advantage of
4.1's support of OGC simple features for sql, but I think we have a
volunteer working on it as he learns the geotools/geoserver code bases.
ArcSDE support is also planned relatively soon. GeoServer hopes to handle
as many datasource types as possible, leveraging geotools datasources as
they are contributed.
