[Geoserver-devel] New Mapbuilder demo in GeoServer!

Hey, I just wanted to point out that there are two integrated Community
MapBuilder (http://mapbuilder.sourceforge.net - a great javascript wms
and wfs-t client) demo in the geoserver 1.3-beta release. They are
kinda hidden, available on your installed geoserver 1.3 at:

http://localhost:8080/geoserver/data/mbdemos/demo/wfs-t/index.html
and
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/data/mbdemos/demo/cite/index.html

We should make a link from the geoserver welcome page.

Mapbuilder guys - this is really great work, I am incredibly impressed.

I am not sure if we will put it in the official 1.3.0 distribution, as
it is a good bit of extra bulk. But I really want it prominent on
GeoServer - perhaps we can make a really easy to set up demo download.
And this should definitely be a main plug-in for opensdi - users could
just download and have a great wfs-t/wms client.

best regards,

Chris

Thanks. The demo is still a bit rough and needs the user interface refined a bit which is something we plan to do over the next month or so.

We package mapbuilder as a war file, same as geoserver. So installation is easy. Just download and copy mapbuilder.war into the tomcat/webapps directory, then access the wfs-t demo at:
http://localhost:8080/mapbuilder/demo/wfs-t/

Out of the box, the demo is configured to work if geoserver.war and mapbuilder.war are installed in the same webapps directory.

It would be good if we could host a joint mapbuilder/geoserver demo somewhere. We are unable to host it on our Sourceforge site because we need a Java Servlet Container for some of the demos to work (like the WFS-T demo).

Does someone have a server that could host this demo? Ideally, we would like a permanent URL. Ie, we don't want the site to disappear when our friendly geek leaves the company.

Indeed, just to add that we have been using (and still use) mapbuilder as a
platform for testing WMSs we are installing along with geoserver.

All in all, the new comers in WMS/WFS are really helped in using mapbuilder :
congratulations to them !

PS:
I don't know if it could help mapbuilder's people but we have made some
changes to the javascripts (like making it working with IE6, blocking
upperscale and downscale and adding some French CRSs, etc ...)
