Dear OpenGIS users,
Do you have a WFS implementation example that you would like to contribute to
the OGC WFS Cookbook? OGC has issued a call for contributions to give you
(OGC members and non-members) an opportunity to have your WFS implementation
and user experience featured in the OGC WFS Cookbook.
This follows the successful release of the OGC WMS Cookbook already available
for download from the OGC Network website (http://www.ogcnetwork.org). OGC has
reached a point of critical mass where the work of its members is achieving
broad application in the user community. It's time to share these stories so
that others can explore the benefits and possibilities that come with
interoperability.
Below are the Cookbook outline and the list of the already committed
contributors who will be submitting user experiences, implementation examples,
or recipes. GeoServer is already marked as an contributor, but we would like
to receive your WFS experiences and/or implementation examples.
The proposed WFS Cookbook outline is shown below.
WFS Cookbook Outline:
CHAPTER 1: WFS Overview
An overview of the GML object model
The current WFS interface grammar including the OGC Filter
Enabling WFS to work with your data
Retrieving features

Anticipated enhancements to the WFS specification
CHAPTER 2: WFS Examples: User Experiences, System Architectures,
Request/Response
A worked example showing the interaction between a client and a server
GML Profiles for WFS
WFS programs for data discovery and access
Web Feature Portrayal Service and stylesheets
CHAPTER 3: WFS Recipes
Steps for creating a WFS client
Steps for creating a WFS server

So this is your chance. If you would like to have your WFS implementation or
experience featured in the OpenGIS WFS Cookbook, submit a use case or example
to KKolodziej@anonymised.com The deadline for sending your contributions for the
OGC WFS Cookbook is 1700 EST on Dec 1st, 2003.
