Follow on for discussion, OSGeo only asks that we have a code of conduct.
Previously we were (to my understanding) using OSGeo Code of Conduct Version 1.0.
OSGeo is not really managing to maintain that and are recommending Contributor Covenant for open source projects (the above pull request).
I am also totally happy if we add a sentence to the “Be polite” heading to user list guidelines page and call that our code of conduct:

We should probably add a note in the README file and I seem to recall there was an option to set a link in the github repository somewhere too.
