Hi guys,
I've finally discovered where the issue with dithering was...
a trivial one, the popshade.sld file was for some strange reason using
traslucent colors, that cannot be rendered properly with indexed palettes (that is, they're dithered).
So, I've updated the wiki page:
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOS/Paletted+images
Can you have a look at the proposed implementation and comment?
I want this out along with Geoserver 1.5.1
Cheers
Andrea
