[Geoserver-devel] possible bug? Missing serializer.jar in RC2?

Amit,

Geoserver RC3 has not been released yet - the most up-to-date version is
RC2.

Did adding "serializer.jar" fix the problem?

How is your evaluation going? I'd be interested in what you found out.

Yes, it did fix the problem for me, though I don't remember where
exactly it was reporting the Exception. Do you want me to file a
detailed bug? I can do it on Tuesday when I go to work. It was a fresh
install and I guess many of you guys won't have this error because of
old jars lying around. Are you guys using something like VMWare to test
on multiple architectures?

I am looking for help from you guys to further convince the people at
work... Does anybody have a full fledged system up and running which
they are willing to open up for a small window of time sometime next
week? Or do you know of people who are freely hosting such sites? The
main site just lists people who are using it, no links to actual sites.

Ok here is what I think

1) Matt Perry's security permissions is the first feature I would like
to implement. Has to be rock solid, and just work.

2) User friendliness should be improved a lot in the default install to
get more people to use it. I am talking about the Demo section where I
had to figure out how to get the bbox values right, where you have to
prefix namespace before the datastore table etc. It has to be elegantly
simple. Though I personally will not want to spend time here.

3) Should be a one line install on Unix like OS: pkg_add, rpm, apt etc.

Thanks
