Hi all,
I would like to add a sqlserver extension. I have gone through the paces of making sure it meets all the requirements of an extension. But writing a proposal seems a bit like overkill... especially since we have a number of datastore extensions which don't actually meet extension criteria.
Thoughts? Can I go ahead and head without an official proposal?

Mumble, yeah, datastore extensions are sort of a gray area, we
are shipping with stuff like the gml datastore, I guess anything
would be better than that.
Did the procedure say to move to extension a proposal was needed?
I agree it's overkill... at the same time, we make the rules, we
should respect them.
Maybe we should lower the requirements for the procedure? A mail
to the dev list and a vote?
Cheers

Ok, I will update the procedure. For things like data store extensions which don't really involve any geoserver code probably don't need a proposal. At least not data stores... Maybe other third party libraries... but we can handle those on a case by case basis.
Also people have the opportunity to reply to the email saying "Can you write a proposal please".
