[Geoserver-devel] Proposal to backport code from GeoServer

Hi all,

I would change the GeoWebCache WMSTileFuser class for making it more performant, but this operation requires to move some code to avoid cyclic dependencies.

For this reason I would submit to the PSC a proposal of moving 2 packages of the GeoServer WMS module developed by Andrea Aime.

The classes to move are (all the versions are on the master branch):

  • Quantizer and other classes of the same package: from GeoServer to GeoTools (module gt-coverage);

  • PNGJEncoder and other classes of the same package: from GeoServer to ImageIO-Ext.
    Also I need to backport these classes to the following versions:

  • GeoServer 2.4.x version;

  • GeoTools 10.x version;

  • ImageIO-Ext 1.1.x version.
    Thanks.

Cheers,
Nicola.

license and of project for both
