Hi Andrea, and others,
I was wondering if you had any opinion on the following matter.
I am doing an investigation into the feasibility of building the following feature into geoserver:
a 1D geometries (for example distance to a borehole) referenced against (for example) a 3D linestring, and their reprojection to a 3D geometry
Or explained more in detail:
A borehole is defined by a multi geometry, using a 3D CRS.
This particular borehole is used to define a whole new CRS, a 1D CRS.
With this CRS you can specify points somewhere in the borehole (the depth).
And what we want to do is know the exact location of any of these points
in the 3D CRS where we originally defined the borehole.
So the first question is whether the existing CRS infrastructure would even support the definition of such a CRS (which is referenced against a geometry).
What would be involved? How hard do you think this would be?
Kind Regards
Niels Charlier

To be honest, off the top of my I have no idea… I would have to spend some hours looking into it, but I don’t have
such time available
Cheers
