[Geoserver-devel] R: [jira] Created: (GEOS-931) Document how image + world files are managed

As I promised, I could write down my little experience in using Geoserver to publish a coverage with tif-tfw-prj. Is this still useful or it would be better to wait for some news from issue http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-928 ?

Cheers,

Fabio

Document how image + world files are managed
--------------------------------------------

                 Key: GEOS-931
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-931
             Project: GeoServer
          Issue Type: Task
          Components: Documentation
    Affects Versions: 1.5.0
            Reporter: Andrea Aime
         Assigned To: Brent Owens
            Priority: Critical

Images + world files are common, adding a .prj file to the is
not. Add a little toturial on how to handle this kind of
images, and explain that they are not really meant for high
performance (aka, if the image is really big, transform to
tiled geotiff + overviews using gdal_translate)

Great!

I'd say go ahead and throw it up on the wiki, it's definitely useful now. You can link to the issue and change the document when 928 is resolved.

Go ahead and make it a child page from: http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/End+User+Tutorials

Then Brent can review and bring it in to the main documentation.

Brent, you should probably also migrate Alex's mosiac docs to the main docs as well.
