Sig's definitely been on before, he can show you how. I
imagine you'll
get quite a bit of interest though. I haven't thought about
this stuff
in awhile, but Jody has a lot of thoughts, so it'd be good to include
him. And I think Simone and Alessio (wcs) may have some
thoughts on it
too, I heard grid coverage folk were thinking about metadata and the
like. So go ahead and set up an irc. If we wait a bit we can get
Justin involved too, and he can hopefully soon lend a hand
with coding.
Chris
For us here at AMA can be ok on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday
from 9:00 to 16:00 UTC (but we can arrange otherwise) so that both
me and Sig are present together.
We have almost nothing to say about the "Map side", but we can talk
about metadata. Also Simone and Alessio (wcs) may have something to say
about that, given their Ingestion Engine project.
If we do it in the afternoon, also people from overseas
may be present. Let me know if and when you think to meet
(I don't know who can set up for it).

I know I started this thread after having read Jody's email but after your
responses I know now that there was a misunderstanding from my side about
Paolo's interests and work areas.
My intention when I suggested having an IRC was to discuss about the CatalogAPI
and how backport it from uDig to Geotools, how to improve it and such. OK, this
included my question on how to handle the metadata in MapLayer, GeoResource
a.s.o. In the meantime it seems this discussion will largely focus on metadata,
especially since I learned today what Paolo & Co. have developed in this
direction (The SIS Meta Information Infrastructure).
I feel that I should say clearly that advanced metadata APIs is a topic that is
over my head and not my current focus. I am already much deeper in GeoTools than
I intended originally. (My GeoWidgets project was supposed to work ON TOP of
Geotools.) So, given the fact that Paolo obviously does not care too much about
the MayLayer Architecture (what I understand) and I don't want to care about
advanced Metadata APIs, I am not sure how much an IRC will bring. But if there
are enough people interested in metadata, as I can imagine, just do the IRC
session anyway. (Tuesday or Wednesday preferred for me.) OK?
I will listen anyway if possible, but don't expect me to know, say or decide
anything.
