[Geoserver-devel] R: R: [jira] Created: (GEOS-931) Document how image + world files are managed

Hello.

I apologize for the delay, but I menaged to create a page about the issue. It's the firts time I use Confluence to create a wiki page (and the first time I write something about Geoserver, to say it all), so if someone would like to review the page, I'ld appreciate very much.

The new page is here: http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/Creating+a+coverage+from+a+TIFF+with+world+file+(tfw)

Thank you,

Fabio

Great!

I'd say go ahead and throw it up on the wiki, it's definitely useful
now. You can link to the issue and change the document when 928 is
resolved.

Go ahead and make it a child page from:
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/End+User+Tutorials

Then Brent can review and bring it in to the main documentation.

Brent, you should probably also migrate Alex's mosiac docs to
the main
docs as well.

Sweet! Excellent tutorial Fabio.
I fixed a couple spelling mistakes, but other than that it is quite useful.
Thanks!

Images + world files are common, adding a .prj file to the is not. Add a little toturial on how to handle this kind of images, and explain that they are not really meant for high performance (aka, if the image is really big, transform to tiled geotiff + overviews using gdal_translate)
