Hi,
so we had again a few fixes in the pipe that did not make it into RC4
(direct render
path issues with paletted images and bg values), some annoyingly
repeating reports
of NPE and other breaks in the status page after reload (still unfixed btw),
the "thousands of sessions" issue that is in progress and the cql backwards
compatibilty problem.
Time for a RC5, maybe towards the end of the week? Hoping it will be the last
and we can celebrate Easter with a brand new 2.1.0 final...
Opinions?
Cheers
Andrea

Yeah, I would say there are enough changes here and the issues are serious enough to warrant another RC release. +1.

So do we have a plan/resources in place for RC5? Are we releasing this week or early next?

Hi Justin,
I was planning to do it today but I’ve been hit by a “work storm” and could not find any time, sigh.
Let’s do it on Monday? I can tag and deploy geotools and tag and package geoserver, maybe someone
else can do the announcements?
Cheers

Hi Justin,
I was planning to do it today but I've been hit by a "work storm" and
could not find any time, sigh.
Let's do it on Monday? I can tag and deploy geotools and tag and package
geoserver, maybe someone
else can do the announcements?

Actually thing might slip a bit further. During the weekend I had time
to review the bug report statuses and there are still one issue open
that need fixing:
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-4425 (which generated at least 3 bug
reports and some of on list/irc reports)
And possibly also this one, since it basically doubles all the security
filters work (with possibly unexpected results):
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-4421
We need review at the very least for the first, on the second I'm not
100% sure it needs fixing, but it's causing a some grief too in GeoNode
land and other GS derived applications (which I worked around in my
case, but made Gabriel waste time to diagnose and will possibly
have the same effect on other people trying to disable security).
It's also a regression, on 2.0.x it was possible to disable security.
Cheers
