As Chris mentioned, I've been putting notes in here:

I did look at laszlo and got it drawing some spatial data. The problem
is that it doesnt really allow you to create "real" geometries - you
basically send a little program that draws your GIS data. I believe
the flash file format has shape datatypes. There's a flash vs svg file
format comparision link on that page. There are other laszlo-like tool
kits out there.
I do want to see Geoserver have a good SVG WMS "renderer". I'm betting
that you could also do something similiar that produced Flash SWT as
well.
