Those are super-attractive Dave. (Only note, Riverside Drive on picture
3 >seems odd to me).
Its being caused because Riverside Dr is actually quite complex - it has
a few things that look like "river braiding" in it (see attached
picture). The greedy algorithm I'm using (instead of a more complex
"longest path") picks the wrong route.
What's the overhead of all this calculation? You are doing a lot of
processing on the fly.
The geotools renderer is quite slow - I dont think this is sucking up
too much processing power (relative to the whole process). It shouldnt
be too much, though, unless you have very complex polygons/lines. The
new JTS is pretty good seeing that its clipping to a bounding box and
optimizes.
