[Geoserver-devel] RE: [Geotools-devel] Fun stuff to do (was Employment Opportunitie s at The Open Planning Project)

.....
I'd also like to see validation, and then yes, the
sandbox is a good idea - I was articulating it more as a 'peer review'
section, but I think it's the same idea - changes for someone else to
approve and commit.

We (me and Luca) are also thinking of integrating a workflow engine of some
sort, so the approve and commit may be managed by it. But it may prove too
difficult, at least as a first phase...

Another feature I think we'd like (we're basically
going for an open geodata collaborative platform - wiki for maps, easy
to use, but powerful enough to be 'real', do validation and peer review
and all) is the equivalent of JIRA's 'watching' - you could subscribe
to an area of the map that you knew about, and would be send updates
whenever someone edited that.

This is really interesting, we never thought it that way, but yes that would
be very powerful. We have different offices of the Municipality doing things
on the same areas, and with this subscription mechanism one can be kept
informed of what others are doing. We should consider it!!!
