Hi all,
I have created this JIRA to relax the bbox and resolution equality constraints on coverages composing a coverageView (when JAI-EXT is enabled).
Some new satellites are producing datasets for different bands at different resolutions.
As an instance:
https://earth.esa.int/web/sentinel/user-guides/sentinel-2-msi/resolutions/spatial
JAI-EXT supports an ExtendedBandMerge operation which allows to merge images not perfectly aligned or having different resolutions, by applying a backward mapping
from the destination image to each source image.
When JAI-EXT is enabled, it would be good to relax those constraints to support this kind of views.
Cheers,
Daniele

CoverageViews allow to define a View made of different bands originally available inside coverages (either bands of the same coverage or different coverages) of the same Coverage Store.
Composing coverages need to have same datatype, same CRS, same BBOX and same Resolution so that the underlying images are always co-registered.
Some recent satellites may produce multiple bands stored as different files where, in some cases, there are slightly differences in BoundingBox and resolution across them.
JAI-EXT defines an ExtendedBandMerge operation which allows to merge multiple images even if not properly aligned.
It would be great to relax the consistency check when JAI-EXT is enabled, by supporting input coverages having different bbox and resolutions.
