[Geoserver-devel] Releasing GeoTools 9.0 final and GeoServer 2.3.0 final next week?

Hi,
I’m writing to ask the PMC/PSC if we should skip the RC2 releases and go directly for finals,
as discussed on Monday’s Skype meeting.

GeoTools 9.0-RC1 and GeoServer 2.3.0-RC1 have been announced March 26th,
and RC2 should have been released 2 days ago, on March 6th.
During Monday’s meeting we observer that not enough time was passed since
the RC1, so we motioned to wait another week.
Given that nobody answered to the minutes, I assume there was no objections
(or, one could assume nobody is reading the minutes…)

Now, since RC1 we had no bug report that is RC1 specific.
If we get no new bug report, does it make sense to release a RC2?
I don’t believe so, and Jody and Jukka felt the same during Monday’s meeting.

So I’m proposing that if we don’t get any report of major/blocker issues in RC1
mid next week, we should go and release what we have today, with the
few extra fixes that went in since RC1, as the final release,
reset the clocks and start a new cycle

Opinions?

Cheers
Andrea
