[Geoserver-devel] Request for early backport - GSIP 187 - New extension point in ResourcePool for retyping feature types and features

The above described PR needs to be backported to meet the 2.16.3 release, hence I am requesting an early backport. Since this is a new extension point, it does not pose any backward compatibility issues, that is because to wok the new extension point, one will have to provide and wire an implementation of relevant interface. It is assured that an early backport will not cause any issues.

While I am not against an early backport, the extension point will get its first release this month as part of 2.17-RC and 2.17.0.
The next 2.16.3 release is in April…
