Is there anyone who knows how we could get satellite photos into the datastore and get them using WMS as GetMap request? Thanks.

If you use the new WCS work you should be able to use satellite photos,
it's in version 0.2, and large ones might not work so well. But you
could try it out, it's called GeoServer 1.3 + WCS or some such, on the
download page. If you configure an coverage it should show up in the
wcs and the wms.
