All,
I am trying to simply view a shapefile, using the wms, that I’ve loaded into geoserver. I created a new datastore (“scout”) for my shapefile and it says that the data was loaded without incidence. Now, I have to specify a layer in the url for the map image I am trying to create. I have read that this layer name is the FeatureType. So I created a new FeatureType from my “scout” datastore called “scout_arcs”. I clicked on the “bounding box” link and then clicked apply and save. However, my layer is not available. I tried a simple map request through a url specifying “scout_arcs” as the layer name and it says “no such layer on the server”. I also tried checking my getCapabilities and the xml does not list my layer as available. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong here?
Thanks,
Scott

Does it work on the wfs side of things? Does the wfs getCapabilities
document have the featureType names scout_arcs? Or does it not show up
at all?
Can you set the loggingLevel to FINER and send the logs (catalina.out on
tomcat) ?
