[Geoserver-devel] Skipping RC2? And final release manager

Hi,
I’ve just noticed that we should have cut RC2 for the GeoTools 13.x and GeoServer 2.7.x
series today.

There is indeed not much for the changelog:
http://jira.codehaus.org/issues/?jql=project%20in%20(GEOS%2C%20GEOT)%20AND%20fixVersion%20%3D%2013-RC2%20AND%20status%20%3D%20Resolved

http://jira.codehaus.org/issues/?jql=project%20%3D%20GEOS%20AND%20fixVersion%20%3D%20%222.7-RC2%22%20AND%20status%20%3D%20Resolved

I believe last time we also skipped the RC2 due to lack of resources.
Shall we make this “stable” and change the release schedule to avoid the RC2, and just wait a month
between RC1 and final?

On a related note, March 18th we should cut the final, 2.7.0… but I’ll still be travelling that week, no
chance I can help with a release before the very end of March.
Do we have other volunteers?

Cheers
Andrea

Travis and myself were planning to take on a release. We should be able to do the one mid month.

I would rather focus in bug fixes than an RC2 - have we identified any important issues out of testing rc1?

This is what we have in terms of bugs that are know to affect either beta
or rc1:
http://jira.codehaus.org/issues/?jql=project%20%3D%20GEOS%20AND%20issuetype%20%3D%20Bug%20AND%20affectedVersion%20in%20("2.7-beta"%2C%20"2.7-RC1"%2C%20"2.7-RC2")%20AND%20status%20%3D%20Open

I don't think we have a single regression there, just issues that were
either confirmed to
be still present in 2.7-beta by Jukka, or bugs that have been reported in
that period, but
do not seem to have anything specific to that version.

Long story short, it seems to be they are all "old news". Not saying we
should not fix them,
on the contrary, but I don't feel the house is on fire because of any of
them

Cheers
Andrea
