Ciao,
I would say that the interest here in the long run is to push this
kind of functionalities into at least an extension.
We do have a couple of users/clients asking for something like this to
be core in GS.

One observation, tests for community modules take exactly zero time, because
we do not run them.
A module needs to be elevated to extension status to have its tests run, as
long as it stays in
community it's free to bit rot as it pleases (well, we notice compile
failures for those that are
included in the nightly, but that's all, and even in that case if there is
no time/interest in
keeping them around, we just kick them out of the nightly).
