[Geoserver-devel] spring dependency and commons pool

Hi Andrea?

I was about to add a dependency on commons-pool to referencing (so we can toss out some of our faux datasource stuff). I was going to try and grab the latest - in version 2 they have factored out there classes into:
- class heirarchy for type off pool (strong reference, weak reference etc...)
- strategy object for policy (FIFO, LIFO, etc...)

Basically they have half the number of classes.

But I noticed that spring depends on commons-pool 1.3 - and I don't really want to see both things tripping over each other for geoserver? What are your thoughts?
Jody

Hi Jody,

using commons-pool 2.0 seems right, and thanks for chiming on the list before
adding the dependency as it will affect the arcsde plugin too.

I had problems with mixed library versions between modules before, so it'll be
great to coordinate and make sure a single one is used across modules and
even more, across projects ( in this case, geotools<-->geoserver)

Saul, do you foresee any problem for arcsde moving to commons-pool 2.0?

cheers,

Gabriel

Hmm,

I'm not sure if commons-pool 2.0 will affect ArcSDE. I'll give it a shot today and see if it breaks anything.
