[Geoserver-devel] Spring !

I actually like your reasoning Justin - I would also add that chosing a tech where people can buy books on the subject is always a good sign.
I have already pestered you about cleaning up the geotools factory system to work in such an environment  It will be great to have two modern project bashing away at the geotools codebase.

BTW I don't intend to be mean - the fact that geotools has a factory system for us to clean up is *great*.

So with the decision in place can we get down to the fun part? Putting down where we want to go, and then planning a phased transition. I assume we can drop this technology in and then gradually cut over to it as opportunity/need permit?

Opps - I should of said Spring is what I would of chosen (but your research has been more complete then mine).

I think this is the best course of action. Create the new core, define how we plugin, etc.. and then start transitioning functionality over when it is needed.

Getting the core in place I think is priority as it will make it much easier for people to contribute new functionality.
