Hi devs,
here is the status of the RC2 release. The tag is done, it’s released on jira,
the deploy on the repo is done, as well as upload of the main packages on
sourceforge.
Also made the RC2 download page, though I still haven’t moved it under
“latest” as not all the download links are working (see the missing packages)
What is missing:
- the PDF, for the life of me pdf2latex won’t generate any usable PDF
on my machine (a lots of pages with images but no text whatsoever) - the windows and mac installers
- possibly someone to try the release artifacts on some other machine
- the release announcements (blog)
Btw, the process described in the guide to generate the htmldocs
won’t work anymore, following it would have the dev docs literally
overwrite part of the user ones.
In the end I copied the two generated set of html under two newly
created user and developer directories and then zipped that.
Tomorrow I’m going to fly all day and next week my connectivity
might be poor. If anyone can help with the above it’s much appreciated,
otherwise if you can wait a little I’ll complete the missing tasks
myself (well, besides the mac installer and the pdf which I just
cannot make…)
Ah, announcement wise there is not much to say, most of the changes
are just fixes of various kind. This is what I added in the readme.txt:
GeoServer 2.1-RC1 (February 18, 2011)
The second GeoServer 2.1 release candidate. The release includes
a long list of small fixes but no new features.

This release is based on GeoTools 2.7-RC2
I guess there is not much else to add. The only new feature I can think of is
the querylayer module, but that’s a community one for the moment so it
won’t be part of the release.
