[Geoserver-devel] Travis builds not helping pull requests anymore

Hi,
most of the pull request builds are failing due to errors like the following:

[ERROR] Failed to execute goal on project gs-libjpeg-turbo: Could not resolve dependencies for project org.geoserver.extension:gs-libjpeg-turbo:jar:2.9-SNAPSHOT: Failed to collect dependencies at it.geosolutions.imageio-ext:imageio-ext-turbojpeg:jar:1.1.13 -> org.libjpegturbo:turbojpeg-wrapper:jar:[1.2.1.1](http://1.2.1.1): Failed to read artifact descriptor for org.libjpegturbo:turbojpeg-wrapper:jar:[1.2.1.1](http://1.2.1.1): Could not find artifact it.geosolutions.imageio-ext:imageio-ext-library:pom:1.2-SNAPSHOT in boundless ([https://repo.boundlessgeo.com/main/](https://repo.boundlessgeo.com/main/)) -> [Help 1]

I’m a bit weirded out by the first ending up looking for a SNAPSHOT, the jpeg-turbo pom does not have SNAPSHOT dependencies,
but I’ll have a better look tomorrow.

The other two are clearer, we depend on some old jars that are no more available in central and that are now
not available on the boundless repo either (they were available on the old repo.opengeo.org though).

Is that stuff that can added back by a manual install?

Limited to the bdb lookup, I’m wondering if anyone is actually using the importer bdb backend? Another possible solution
is to just kick the module down in community land and out of the nightly build… just a thought

Yes it is.

I've manually deployed them in the release repository, let's see if that's
enough to get Travis back in business...

So I fixed the original repository, and then did the above, but it does not
seem like it's actually
refreshing the cache, it's just refreshing the UI to match the contents of
the artifactory server side.
The file is still the same...

Just re-kicked a build that previously failed due to the libjpegwrapper
issue (and that one only):
https://travis-ci.org/geoserver/geoserver/builds/116201288

We'll see if artifactory chooses to check the source repo when Travis asks
for the pom file
again... or not

When we got tripped up before it was due to the build number in the maven-metadata.xml - when it was “lower” then the one held locally it did not correctly work.

You can always login and “refresh” the entry in the boundless one.

However in the tag the parent is correct, looks like a deploy issue:

refreshing the cache, it’s just refreshing the UI to match the contents of the artifactory server side.
The file is still the same…

Just re-kicked a build that previously failed due to the libjpegwrapper issue (and that one only):
https://travis-ci.org/geoserver/geoserver/builds/116201288

We’ll see if artifactory chooses to check the source repo when Travis asks for the pom file
again… or not

Jody, I don’t follow, the maven-metadata you’re linking does not have a build number.

Imho we should just stop this single centralized maven repo approach, it’s made us waste
a lot of time already and has broken builds for months now, and go back to having
separate repositories…
