So I may just be doing something naively dumb, but I feel like checking out the source on trunk and hitting 'mvn install' is supposed to work.
But I get two missing artifacts:
org.geotools.gt2-main:jar:2.3.1-SNAPSHOT
and
org.geotools:gt2-api:jar:2.3.1-SNAPSHOT
Anyone have an idea of what needs to be updated to have this work right? 1.4.x works fine for me...

I just built it and it worked, but I do have those jars in my repository.
If you have the jars in your repo as well, often wiping it and rebuilding geotools, then geoserver, helps.

Ah, I suppose that makes sense. They're snapshots, so I need the latest build. I just have so many svn directories of different geotools versions, and don't have 2.3.x yet. But I suppose I should get it.
