Hi Geoserver team,
Please change the FOSS4G logo on geoserver.org to point to the 2017 logo. For the logo you can grab it from http://foss4g.org or http://mapserver.org (left panel). I filed this as a ticket as well: https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver.github.io/issues/39
Thanks!

I have updated the site with the new logo (see comment in https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver.github.io/issues/39 ).

Could foss4g not provide a stable link that updates each year to save all the projects having to remember to change?

Not a bad idea. Each year I nag the local committee to produce a marketing page of logos etc (most don't listen to me). FOSS4G Barcelona was the gold standard for marketing. So, your idea is a good one.

The image is also a link which presently includes the date
(http://2017.foss4g.org/) it would need to point to a general FOSS4G
site, or to a stable location that forwards to the next FOSS4G. Maybe
something like http://next.foss4g.org/. Otherwise we would still need
to update the link every year.
