[Geoserver-devel] User Interface Feedback

Thanks to all that have provided feedback on the GeoServer 1.2 beta.

I have not received any feedback on the actual user interface (as implemented), I have attached my latest recommendation in the hopes of jump starting a discussion.

A few points about the attached picture:
GeoServer - text links to a project page for the release being run, release notes/credits/any version specific warnings
test_postgis/cite status indicator - text links to DataStoreEditor where any errors can be reviewed
WFS/WMS/Data* - * indicates that a Save is required, background shading (not shown) used to indicate Apply is required
Actions - context sensitive / may not be present on all screens (WMS Preview is a nice pipe dream)
Title Requested - indicates the form failed validation on the last submit (see *Title below)
Topp Cite Test Server - Service name as configured
contact: Chris Holmes - link to contact email address as configured
Configuration Data FeatureType Editor - locater bar - underlined words indicate a link "back" to another screen
Logout - Finish configuration/management functions return to the Service Home page
Type Reference: indicates type being edited, underlined dataStoreId links to DataStore Editor
*Title: * indicates that an outstanding errors exists for this field (see Title Requested above)
Up/Down - used to order schema attributes
Remove - used to remove attribute
Add - (not shown ) used to add an Attribute from the FeatureType (attribute chosen from drop down list)
Submit/Reset - usual form controls
Cancel - return to FeatureType Select screen

Okay that was quite a few points - I will switch to notes.

Notes:
- Yes the Attribute Section of the form is darker
- No I am not sure if the GeoServer (c) The Open Planning Project and Powered by Struts messages are required
- All of the SRS/Title/.../gid/geom entries have tooltip descriptions

Cheers,
Jody
