I'm starting with REST, I developed the hello_rest example, I have tried it
from eclipse without problems, but could use the example from a web
browser?.

Where can I see the exception information?. I have the development
environment as described in the Geoserver Help, building with Maven, running
with Jetty and Eclipse.
Thanks

Hard to help if you don't provide, at the very least, the full stack
trace. Details, we don't have the crystal ball

It is most likely that your hello_rest module is not on the classpath. In eclipse view the properties of the web-app project. Go to java build path and then projects and verify that the hello_rest module is on the classpath.
